(Water-Mills (Asiab-e- Abi)
All the grain mills in Tabas are propelled with water and constructed in the way of water streams. In Tabas, there were five mills that all have been ruined except Khan Mill. Currently the only active water mill is Khosroabad mill. Recently Iranian Cultural Heritages and Tourism Organization (CHTO) have taken measures for repairing Khosroabad Mill and rebuilding of Khan Mill.
One of historical places that there are many of them in Tabas are water reservoirs. These buildings are purposed for desert climates.
In tabas the water reservoirs are into two types: with or without tap. In type of without tap which is named “Howz” (pool) the access to the water is the stair way and the people could take water using a pitcher or a bucket. When level of water is dropping during taking water from the pool more steps are coming out of water. In with tap one; there is a circular reservoir with a 2m wide corridor and steep stair ways to the bottom of reservoir. At the end of the corridor there is a wall and a tap for taking water. In Tabas the water reservoirs are being filled in winter cold nights (Chelle) by flowing water and in summers the cold drinking water is supplied for the people. Some of these water reservoirs are: Zein-Al- Abedin-Attar, Char soogh- Ghale’ bagh- Pahn Kooche….
